NACA to add more than 1,000 jobs in Charlotte - Austin Business Journal:

Bev Perdue announcedd the expansion Thursday, with the stats giving NACA a $1 million grant from the One NortjhCarolina Fund. It plans to invest more than $4 milliobn here, with 1,014 jobs expected to be adderd over the nextfive “North Carolina remains a stronb presence in the U.S. financse sector, and this is a tremendous opportunitg forthe Charlotte-area,” Perdue said.

Chairman Hugh McColl Jr. abouf the deal. McColl has been a longtimd supporterof NACA’s work. BofA begam a partnership with NACAunde McColl’s watch in 1995 and in 2004 committed $6 billion to its lendingg program.
Perdue says McColl confirmed to her that he expectedx NACA could follow through on its job commitmentz in severalphone conversations. “When someone begins somethingv like thisin Charlotte, it always grows,” McColl said in an interview Thursday. “They’lkl come in and find this is a good placs tofind (a work force). I woulde hope it would be an eruption of not justtrickle down.” The group claims it will be the largestr number of people hired immediatelhy in one area and the largestf job commitment in the countr since the mortgage crisis begamn in 2007. The hirin comes as NACA embarks on a nationwidr Save theDream Tour.
Marks says the added jobs are crucial as NACA leadws its campaign to makemortgages affordable. The NACA agreementds cover more than 90 percent of homeowner with anunaffordable mortgage. The staff from the Counselinbg Center in Charlotte will travel nationwide to work on Save the Dreamm events where morethan 25,009 people are counseled over four days, with thousands receivingh affordable restructured mortgages with permanent interest rates often at 4 3 percent and 2 percenf and where necessary the principal The organization, started in 1988, has the primary goal of buildingv strong, healthy neighborhoods nationwide through affordable homeownership.
NACA operations include financial counseling, specialized mortgage services and a Home Save progran for homeowners with an unaffordable mortgage.
