David Bohne, president of , says the new centerw will not replace any of the services the companuyalready provides. Rather, they will provide the face-to-face service that members want for some productsand “I think our biggest thingt at USAA has alwayds been about the members’ choicr and meeting our members’ needs,” Bohne says.
The averagd size of the financial centers willbe 2,70p0 square feet. They will included Internet workstations, deposit ATMs, on-sitew wealth managers, videophone booths with documengt exchange capabilities and space for small group seminars and The videophone booths are designed to providwe memberswith real-time, face-to-face access to a USAA representative. Bohnd says USAA is using technologu as a way to keep operatingcoste down, while at the same time offeringv its members an additional servicwe option.
Brad Wells, a vice president of eBusinesafor USAA, says the company is excitedf about the new locations, whichb it hopes will make members feel more at ease and do more business with “... Member satisfaction goes up when you seethe person,” Wellz says, adding that the new locations and the technologhy incorporated in them allow USAA to leverage a low-cost way of doingg business while giving members the personalizatio that they’re desiring. “We know there’s demanx for that.” Apart from the the internet workstations will give members access to servicesvia USAA’s Web site (usaa.com) as well as allows them to make checkl deposits.
The deposit ATMs will be available for cash or check deposits andcash withdrawals; wealth management servicea will be provided members by Bohne stresses that the new retail locations will not be traditionall bank branches. Rather, members will be able to use the locationd to take care oftheir insurance, wealt h planning and other financial services Though the branches are slated to open on the city’ s far Northeast and Northwest Sides, no exacf sites have yet been Bohne says it’s been a challenge for the companyy to find property in the partws of town where USAA wants the branches.
“Onw of the things we’ve seen is that our competitorsw have done a lot of homeworkand they’ver been doing branches for a long time. We haven’ t been. So, they have tied up a lot of the good real he says. “We’re putting up two and we want to make surethat we’re gettinbg a good return on the two locations that we So, we are taking our time and being a little choosy on what we Bohne says USAA picked San Antonioi as the testing site for the launch of the new locations because the Alamo City is its home base.
The ultimatre goal, Bohne adds, will be to eventually open retaiol financial locations in strategic spots across the country in areaas that have high concentrations of militarhy personnel as well as good Membership feedback, he adds, will dictate where USAA puts thes new locations.
