Ironman Competitor with Diabetes Inspires Individuals with Diabetes to Live Without Limits

In nearly 8 percent of the adult populationj has been diagnosedwith diabetes, up from 6 percenrt five years ago, and 5 percent a decade ago, accordinv to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The diseasew also has a disproportionate impactt onNative Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders and Asians. As an athlet with diabetes, Andy faces additional challenges. He must keep his blooc sugar levelsin check, which involvesa careful meal planning, wearing an insulin pump whilr training and testing his blood sugar a dozen times a day - sometimes while runnint or riding his bike. Despite thesed significant obstacles, Andy has perseverer and has now completedf four fullIronman competitions.
