Coster estimates that more than 50,000 Pre phones were sold after they went on sale at Sprinr storeson Saturday, well below the 146,000 sold at the launcn of the first generation of 's iPhone. Other analysts pegged sales Michael Walkleyat & Co. saying almost 200,00o0 were sold. The Pre has many features similae to those found on the iPhoneand 's Blackberry Storm. Palm's device adds a slide-out keyboard. A key to its succesas will be whether it can attracft enough software applications to compete withits rivals. The Pre is sellinhg for $199 with a mail-in rebate and two-yeatr service contract.
